RE: Mandatory Training on Sexual Harassment Prevention and Annual Update on
Policies/Resources for Sexual Harassment and Discrimination

This notice provides updated information on mandatory training on sexual
harassment prevention, and serves as an annual reminder about sexual
harassment and discrimination policies and programs at UC Davis.

MANDATORY TRAINING

The University will again be offering both in-person and online opportunities
to satisfy the requirements of AB 1825 - mandatory sexual harassment prevention
training for managers and supervisors, including faculty. AB 1825 is the State
law that requires at least 2 hours of interactive training on sexual harassment
prevention and response for all supervisors within the first six months of
hire, and every two years thereafter. At the University of California, this
includes all faculty, supervisors, managers and other "designated officials,"
as follows:

* all SMG, MSP, faculty, librarians, those identified as supervisor under HEERA,
and others who were identified previously;
* anyone who took an in-person or the online course in 2003, 2004 or 2005 and
are still employees of the University;
* supervisors who have not yet completed the training as required in 2005; and
* those who took the course in the first 3 months of 2006, in order to be
compliant with AB1825.

Concerning online training, within the next few days, faculty and staff
supervisors who are designated to take training will receive an e-mail link
from,uctraining@ucop.edu that directs them to either the faculty or staff online
training. Those who are designated to take this training, as noted above, who
do not receive a message are encouraged to contact UCOP directly by sending an
email message to uctraining@ucop.edu.

These designated individuals may instead choose to complete training through an
in-person session, as follows:

* Enroll through campus Staff Development and Professional Services (SD&PS),
on-line at http://sdps.ucdavis.edu/online.htm. If you need enrollment
assistance, please contact SD&PS at 530-752-1766 (sdps@ucdavis.edu).

* Attend one of the scheduled UCDHS seminars sponsored by UCDHS Sexual Harassment
Education Program - schedule and enrollment instructions are posted at:
http://internet-stage.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/hr/hrdepts/harassment_mediation/sexual_harass_prgrm/SHEtrainingschedule_supervisors.pdf

* Attend a session sponsored by your department, dean or vice chancellor.

No matter which option is selected, online or in-person, attendance will be
recorded into a central data file.

THE UNIVERSITY'S COMMITMENT

The University of California is committed to creating and maintaining a community
where all persons who participate in University programs and activities can work
and learn together in an atmosphere free of all forms of harassment, exploitation,
or intimidation. Every member of the University community should be aware that
the University is strongly opposed to all forms of discrimination, including
sexual harassment, and that such behavior is prohibited both by law and by
University policy. The University will respond promptly and effectively to
reports of discrimination and sexual harassment, and will take appropriate action
to prevent, to correct, and if necessary, to discipline behavior that violates
policy.
