UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE PROVOST October 31, 2007 DEANS, DIRECTORS, AND DEPARATMENT CHAIRS ACADEMIC FEDERATION MEMBERS Re: Professional Development Program for Eligible Academic Federation Members I am pleased to announce that the Professional Development Program will provide a wards for the 2008-09 academic year. The application instructions and cover sheet are posted on the Vice Provost--Academic Personnel Web site at http://academicpersonnel.ucdavis.edu/awards.cfm. For Unit 18 members: http://academicpersonnel.ucdavis.edu/nsf_award_procedures.doc This competitive program provides funding to enable the pursuit of professional development activities, including travel to professional meetings that will enhance an individual's effectiveness in pedagogical endeavors. For AF Members other than those in Unit 18: http://academicpersonnel.ucdavis.edu/fed_prof_develop_procedures.doc This competitive program provides funding to enable the pursuit of professional development activities that will enhance an individual's effectiveness and range of capabilities in his/her current position. This award does not include travel to professional meetings. Such travel should be requested from the Academic Federation Research Travel Grants program (see http://www.mrak.ucdavis.edu/acadfed/awards_tg.pdf). Unit 18 members are not eligible for this program. Rather, they are eligible for the professional development program for Unit 18 members referenced above. There is a fall and a spring application period for these awards. The spring call for application dates are on the application form. A reminder will also be sent in the spring. Please note that the proposal, the department chair's letter, and any optional supporting letter must be forwarded to the Dean or other appropriate administrative officer no later than December 10, 2007. Deans' offices should transmit the applications and supporting material to the Office of the Vice Provost-Academic Personnel by December 19, 2007.
