UC DAVIS: OFFICES OF THE CHANCELLOR AND PROVOST June 27, 2007 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Appointment of Bruce White as Interim Vice Provost--Academic Personnel I am pleased to announce that Bruce White, currently Associate Dean--Academic Personnel and Planning in the College of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, will assume the position of Interim Vice Provost-- Academic Personnel, effective July 1, 2007. As Interim Vice Provost--Academic Personnel, Professor White will be esponsible for academic personnel policy for Academic Senate and non-Academic Senate academic employees, administration of the faculty code of conduct and academic grievance procedures, oversight of the Partner Opportunities Program, administration of the faculty work/life program, and development and administration of programs for faculty/academic development. The Interim Vice Provost--Academic Personnel also ensures affirmative action/equal employment opportunities for all academic employee groups and serves as a liaison to Academic Senate and Academic Federation committees dealing with academic personnel policies and practices. Professor White joined the faculty at UC Davis in 1975 and was appointed Associate Dean--Academic Personnel and Planning in the College of Engineering in 2002. Previously he served as Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Mechanical, Aeronautical and Materials Engineering from 1987-1992. With five years of experience in academic personnel at the college-wide level, he has the experience and skills to ably fill the position of Interim Vice Provost--Academic Personnel.
