RE: Recruitment of Associate Vice Provost-Undergraduate Studies

I am pleased to announce the recruitment for the newly created position of Associate Vice Provost-
Undergraduate Studies. This is a full-time position, effective April 1, 2007 for a five-year,
renewable term. The position will work closely with the Vice Provost-Undergraduate Studies and
will be expected to provide leadership in a variety of areas under the purview of the Office of
Undergraduate Studies.

Primary responsibilities include a leadership role for the regularized Summer Sessions and year-
round instruction; management of supplemental instructional funding; admissions, enrollment
management, and institutional research issues in collaboration with the Offices of Admissions,
Resource Management and Planning, SARI, the Academic Senate, and the undergraduate colleges; a
leadership role in conjunction with the Office of the Registrar on issues related to graduation
rates, enrollment, admissions, Academic Senate regulation enforcement, the registration system,
course approval system, classroom space, degree audit system, and the publication and
digitalization of the General Catalog; and liaison role with the Office of the Vice Chancellor-
Student Affairs, Advising Services, Financial Aid, Learning Skills Center, Student Housing, and
the Office of Admissions on issues related to undergraduates.

Additional duties include, but are not limited to, developing and administering undergraduate
education initiatives in collaboration with undergraduate deans and associate deans to enrich
the undergraduate experience, and facilitating the Academic Senate consultation process
regarding undergraduate matters.

Candidates should be members of the Academic Senate and have a deep understanding of the issues
involved in the effective delivery of high quality undergraduate instructional programs, as well
as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty groups.

Applications should include a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, and any additional
supporting information the candidate chooses to provide. Nominations or applications should be
submitted to the Office of the Provost by January 15, 2007. The position will remain open until
filled. Questions may be directed to Associate Chancellor Sally Springer at spspringer@ucdavis.edu.
