UC DAVIS: POLICE DEPARTMENT
August 14, 2006
TO: DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS
RE: Public Safety Notification Regarding Recent Increase in National Threat Level
In the wake of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's elevation of the nation's
threat level, the UC Davis Police Department wants our community to know that it has
received no indications of threats toward the state of California's infrastructure,
including targets in and around Sacramento.
During the last several days, the threat level was at a heightened state with regards
to travel. Neither the campus nor the UC Davis Police Department has received any
information of threats to the University. As of this morning, the threat level was
lowered in the United Kingdom. We have not received word of any such action being
taken here in the U.S.
The UC Davis Police Department will maintain its current state of readiness with regard
to public safety and security. The department asks the entire campus community to assist
the department by doing the following:
* Maintain vigilance over personal property. For example, continue to ensure that your
buildings, offices, vehicles, etc., are secured and locked at all times.
* Continue to report suspicious activity or persons seen on the campus grounds to the
UC Davis Police Department by dialing 911, or on a cell phone 530.752.1230.
If the UC Davis Police Department receives information of threats that includes the
campus or any associated areas, and requires an increase in our response, the department
will notify the campus.
Thank you for your heightened awareness. We will update you as any additional details
arise. For questions or further information, please contact Captain Leslie Brown at
530.752.4391.
