UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR July 18, 2006 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Appointment of Vice Chancellor-University Relations I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Beverly Sandeen as Vice Chancellor-University Relations, effective July 1, 2006, following a national search to fill the position on a permanent basis. She has held the position in an interim capacity since July 1, 2005. As Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sandeen will be UC Davis' chief institutional advancement officer, with responsibility for fund raising, alumni affairs, government and community relations, communications, and advancement services. She will oversee 130 employees and an annual budget of $15 million, providing strategic leadership in all external relations activities and serving as President of the UC Davis Foundation. Dr. Sandeen previously served as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Alumni Relations and Executive Director of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association from 2002 to 2005. She came to UC Davis from UC Irvine, where she served as Executive Director of the Alumni Association from 1998 to 2002. She received her bachelor's degree in political science and a doctorate in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine. She has demonstrated exceptional ability to work with faculty, staff, alumni, and administrative colleagues across the campus and across the University of California, and has a strong record of accomplishment in the broad area of advancement.
