UC DAVIS: TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING SERVICES

April 11, 2006

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS

RE: Opening of the Transportation and Parking Services Office and
the West Entry Parking Structure

This parking update provides information on the scheduled opening of
the new Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) office and
anticipated opening of the West Entry Parking Structure (WEPS). The
WEPS is located at the corner of Hutchison Drive and the North Dairy
Road Bike/Pedestrian Path. The new TAPS office is the two story
building located due north of the WEPS.

Thursday, April 13, 2006, will be the last day TAPS is open for business
from their current office, located on the corner of Extension Center
Drive and Hutchison Drive. TAPS will be closed all day on Friday,
April 14, 2006 and Monday, April 17, 2006 to move to their new facility.
TAPS will open for business at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at
the new TAPS office located just north of the WEPS. During TAPS'
temporary closure, parking customers will continue to have access to the
Motorist Assistance Program, which provides at no additional cost:
lights-on verification; transportation to a gas station if patrons run
out of gas; lock-out assistance (vehicle entry); and battery jump service.
Additionally, for individuals who need to purchase a parking permit on
April 14 or 17 when our office is closed, temporary parking permits will
be available at the Southgate Information Kiosk, located on Old Davis
Road and the Northgate Information Kiosk, located on Howard Way.

Since the WEPS is not scheduled to open until later this month, TAPS will
provide their customers ten, 30-minute temporary parking spaces in Lot 41
(south of the Life Sciences Building). Directional signs posted in
multiple locations near the new TAPS facility will direct customers to
the TAPS office. Customers may also visit the TAPS website at
http://www.taps.ucdavis.edu to review a map and obtain additional information
regarding the new TAPS location. TAPS customers requiring assistance
getting to our office until WEPS opens should please call 752-8277 for
additional assistance.

The WEPS is a six level facility that provides over 1500 parking spaces.
Permit designations are clearly posted on each level of the structure.
The three elevators within the structure will not be operational when the
structure opens but are planned to be available soon after. Stack parking
services, currently being offered in Lot 25 (located near the ARC), Lot 41
(located just south of the Life Sciences building) and the North Entry
Parking Structure (located on Howard Way), will be discontinued one week
after the WEPS opens.

If you have questions regarding TAPS' temporary closure or the opening of
their office and the WEPS, please give the customer service staff at TAPS
a call (752-8277) or email us at taps@ucdavis.edu.

Thank you for your consideration and patience in support of this move.
TAPS looks forward to servicing your transportation and parking needs at
our new campus home.

Sincerely,

Clifford A. Contreras
Director
Transportation and Parking Services
