UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE VICE PROVOST
UNIVERSITY OUTREACH & INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

November 8, 2005

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE

RE: Recruitment for Director of the UC Davis Education Abroad Program (EAP)

I am pleased to invite applications and nominations for a 50% administrative
appointment as Director of the UC Davis Education Abroad Program (EAP). This
is a half-time appointment effective July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2008. EAP
is the international program of the University of California that provides
academic exchanges and integrates international curricula and learning
opportunities for students. In consultation with the Vice Provost—University
Outreach and International Programs, the Campus EAP Director has primary
responsibility for integrating EAP into the academic curriculum of the campus,
providing general oversight for the Campus EAP Office; and acting as liaison
between the faculty and the University-wide Office of EAP (UOEAP).

We seek candidates who will embrace our commitment to providing every student
an opportunity to study abroad and to being a fully engaged University.
Candidates should be members of the UC Davis Academic Senate, and have
demonstrated skills in program development, academic administrative experience,
and the ability to work effectively in diverse groups and settings.

This is a half time, two-year position that carries an administrative stipend.
Academic year faculty may receive additional summer compensation. In addition,
funds will be made available to the appointee’s department to cover a portion
of the appointee’s teaching duties.

If you are interested in applying for the position, or if you wish to nominate
someone, please submit your application or nomination no later than December 23,
2005. Applications consist of a cover letter accompanied by a current curriculum
vitae and any additional supporting information that the candidate may wish to
provide. Nominations and applicants should be submitted to the Office of the
Vice Provost, University Outreach & International Programs. Questions regarding
the position can be directed to MSO Letha Sines at 754-9444 or lasines@ucdavis.edu.

Sincerely,

William B. Lacy
