UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR-ADMINISTRATION September 12, 2005 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: PSS and MSP Salary Program for October 2005 Thanks to the efforts of Chancellor Vanderhoef, President Dynes, members of the Board of Regents and many others throughout the UC community this past year, state leaders adopted a new state budget that reflects the critical importance of continued state funding for UC staff salaries. Therefore, I am pleased to share with you the systemwide salary program for non-exclusively represented staff employees (salaries for represented employees are governed by collective bargaining agreements). Elements of the approved 2005 systemwide salary program are as follows: - A merit funding pool of 3.5 percent for non-exclusively represented staff employees, effective October 1; - Funding to address significant individual market parity and equity issues, to be determined at each location and distributed according to local programs consistent with systemwide guidelines. Salary ranges for the non-exclusively represented staff will be adjusted this year as well. The new salary range structures, effective October 1, 2005, will soon be updated on the HR web page. Merit program instruction letters have been sent to each major unit on campus describing the program in more detail. The Health System will be administering the merit program centrally. Please call Linda Fairfield, at 530-752-3954 on the Davis campus or Mary Anne Keenan, at 916-734-8098 at UCDHS, if you have any questions regarding the 2005 salary program. Dennis Shimek Senior Associate Vice Chancellor and Special Advisor to the Chancellor - Human Resources 05-094
