UC DAVIS: Vice Chancellor - Administration June 14, 2005 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS (DAVIS CAMPUS ONLY) RE: Management Services Officers (MSOs) for the Future - Call for Applications I am pleased to announce the call for applications for the pilot campus development program, MSOs for the Future. This is a 10-month pilot (September 2005-June 2006) for up to 24 campus participants. This program is intended to cultivate a diverse pool of highly talented and motivated staff interested in pursuing academic MSO positions. The campus Strategic Plan states that "UC Davis will enhance existing programs and create new initiatives to assist in the recruitment, development and retention of the highest-quality faculty and staff." The UC Davis MSOs for the Future program supports the campus commitment to develop and retain a distinguished and diverse staff and is intended to increase participants' sense of community and commitment to UC Davis. The MSOs for the Future program is structured according to the competency model developed at UC Davis for academic MSO positions and is designed to develop and strengthen six competencies (leadership, business and financial analysis, analysis and planning, human resource development, community building/diversity and communication). There will be an approximate time commitment of two days each month in which participants will experience assessments, individual development planning, an internship or special project, mentoring, individual sessions with a career counselor and classroom instruction. Three brown bag information sessions are scheduled from 12 noon - 1 p.m. as follows: June 21 (Cabernet Room/Silo), June 23 (East Conference Room/MU) and June 28 (Human Resources Administration Building, Room 182).
