UC DAVIS: OFFICES OF THE CHANCELLOR AND PROVOST May 26, 2005 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Appointment of Dean-Graduate Studies We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffery E. Gibeling as Dean- Graduate Studies following a national search to fill the position on a permanent basis. He has held the position in an interim capacity since August 2002. Professor Gibeling has a long record of leadership and accomplishments in graduate education and faculty governance. A member of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science since 1979, he has served as Chair of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group, Chair of the Graduate Council, Executive Associate Dean in Graduate Studies, and, since 2002, as Dean-Graduate Studies on an interim basis. He has also served as Chair of the Faculty of Engineering and Chair of the Davis Division of the Academic Senate. The comments received during the course of the search attest to his achievements as interim Dean and to the respect and high regard in which he is held by faculty, staff, and students throughout the campus.
