UC DAVIS: UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS April 15, 2005 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: INTERRUPTION OF DATELINE UC DAVIS DELIVERY Due to union activity on Thursday, regular Friday distribution for the staff and faculty newspaper, Dateline UC Davis, is not expected to take place in departments on campus or at the medical center this week. However, the online edition of the April 15 Dateline - http://www-dateline.ucdavis.edu - will be available starting at 12:30 p.m. today. The edition includes timely stories about: *Saturday's Picnic Day; *An innovative use of the campus's olive tree grove; *New teaching endeavors that fuse science and art; *A planned visit to campus by the UC Regents; *Plans by the new interim vice provost for IET to foster teaching and administrative processes; *The campus's first female chief of police; *Research that is helping ranchers better understand how ecosystems impact their cattle; *How the campus is helping Sacramento design a bigger version of New York's Central Park; and *Feasiblity studies regarding the campus's capital campaign, and more. A limited number of paper editions will be available for pick up today at the information desks in the MU and in the Buehler Alumni and Visitor's Center. Delivered paper editions are expected to begin arriving in departments Monday.
