UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR

November 1, 2004

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS

Re: UC Davis and the 2004 United Way Campaign

This year's UC Davis campus and UCDHS United Way Campaign runs November 1 - November 15, 2004.

When you invest in United Way California Capital Region during this year's "What Matters"
campaign, you can address our community's most critical needs.

We are again using United eWay Online Pledging. The United eWay system is a secure, automated
process that increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the campaign and dramatically reduces
campaign costs. This year you will be able to designate your contribution directly at the eWay
Web site through an easy self-registration process. Please visit https://donor2.united-e-way.org
and enter the following login information to get started:

The campaign code is: uwccr_ucd
The username is: ucd
The password is: ucd2004

You will be taken to the UC Davis United Way campaign page, where you can click on "Pledge Now"
to start self-registration.

United Way allows you to present your gift directly to many programs at our UC Davis Medical Center,
including the M.I.N.D. Institute, the UC Davis Children's Hospital and the Cancer Center, as well as
programs at the UC Davis campus.

This year's campus campaign chairs, Director of Community Relations Mabel Salon and UC Davis Health
System Assistant Director of Government and Community Relations Barbara Ross, would be happy to
arrange a 10-minute presentation to help inform you and your staff about United Way. To schedule
a presentation, contact Mabel at (530) 752-9795 or via e-mail at masalon@ucdavis.edu. UCDHS
employees should contact Barbara at (916) 734-5441 or barbara.ross@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu.

Requests for paper pledge forms or questions about the campaign operations can be directed to
Kristin Burns, Government and Community Relations, (530) 752-9795, or
governmentandcommunityrelations@ucdavis.edu.
