UC DAVIS: CANCER CENTER October 13, 2005 TO: Members of the Academic Senate and Members of the Academic Federation The Tenth Annual Cancer Research Symposium on Wednesday, October 20 and Thursday, October 21 will be perhaps the strongest, broadest, and most informative gathering the Cancer Center has organized. The keynote speakers include Dr. Andrew von Eschenbach, Director of the National Cancer Institute, Dr. Charles Sawyers, a renowned investigator in prostate cancer and leukemia, Dr. George F. Vande Woude, a pioneer in cancer biology and discoverer of the human met oncogenes, and Dr. Stephen McPhee who developed the first cancer control intervention in an American immigrant community (Vietnamese Americans). The four topical sessions will also include oral presentations (see program below) from 23 investigators at UC Davis and LLNL. Two distinct poster sessions offer presentations of 60 research projects. Registration ($50 faculty/staff scientists; $20 graduate/undergraduate students) also includes two continental breakfasts, two lunches, and a reception for Dr. von Eschenbach. (Note: full registration is required to attend any part of the meeting.) Attached is a PDF file for registration. Print out and fax or mail back. Please distribute freely to your colleagues, fellows, and students. If at all possible, please return your registration no later than October 18. Questions should be addressed to Joel Kugelmass (contact information at the end of this e-mail).
