UC DAVIS: INFORMATION AND EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY October 4, 2004 To: DEANS, DIRECTORS, AND DEPARTMENT CHAIRS Re: UC Davis Web-based Faculty Directory [Note: This directive is intended for the heads of academic departments.] Colleagues: I write to enlist your assistance with the completion of the UC Davis Web-based Faculty Directory. Last year, at the Provost's request, Information and Educational Technology developed a campus-wide directory that features a list of faculty, sorted first by school or college and then by department and rank. This listing appeared for the first time in the 2003-04 edition of the UC Davis telephone directory (see pages F1-20). We have since developed a draft Web-based version of this faculty index. To access the site where the faculty listing is temporarily posted, see http://bumbus.ucdavis.edu/facultydirectory/. To view a listing of faculty for any given department, simply click on the name of the corresponding college or school (on the left side of the screen) and then on the department's name. The name of each faculty member (on the right side of the frame) is then linked to the campus directory entry for that person (e.g., email address, mailing address, phone number, title, department). Given that this index will be readily accessible from the campus Web site, I would appreciate your taking a look at the faculty listed for your department and letting us know by Friday, October 22 if there are additions or modifications we should make to complete your department's listings. Once we've received your updates, University Communications will integrate the faculty index into the campus Web site. Your updates will also provide the basis for the faculty index that will be published in the 2005-06 print edition of the campus phone directory.
