UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR September 10, 2004 PLEASE MAKE THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO ALL EMPLOYEES DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Fall Convocation and Release Time for Staff All members of the campus community - faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends - are invited to attend this year’s Fall Convocation on Wednesday, September 29, from 11:00a.m. to noon at Jackson Hall of the Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s convocation theme is “Crossing Boundaries Imagined and Real.” Featured speakers include Education Abroad student Kalen Ridenour; Mohammad Mohanna, UCDavis Foundation Board trustee and member of the recent UC Davis delegation to Iran; and Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef. Academic Senate Chair Daniel Simmons will provide welcoming remarks and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Judy Sakaki will serves master of ceremonies. The UC Davis Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Professor D. Kern Holoman, will also perform. A reception for the campus community will immediately follow the convocation across the street from the Mondavi Center in the Entry Park. Please encourage your faculty, staff and students to attend this first campuswide event of the new academic year. Release time for staff, with supervisor’s approval, is appropriate. Virginia S.
