UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR August 31, 2004 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Appointment of Fred Wood as Interim Vice Provost--Undergraduate Studies We are pleased to announce the appointment of Fred Wood, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Advising in the College of Letters and Science, as Interim Vice Provost--Undergraduate Studies. Dr. Wood will begin serving in the interim role on September 20, and will continue through June 30, 2005, when Patricia Turner will return to the position after serving as Interim Dean of the Division of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies. Dr. Wood has served as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Advising in the College of Letters and Science since 1991. He has extensive experience in working on the challenges currently facing the campus in the area of undergraduate education and an excellent record of working collaboratively and effectively with the Academic Senate. Dr. Wood received his Ph.D. in chemistry from UC Davis in 1984. In addition to serving as Associate Dean, he holds the position of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry.
