SUBJECT: Recruitment of Summer Sessions Abroad Program Director

I am pleased to invite applications and nominations for the position of Summer 
Session Abroad (SSA) Director at UC Davis. This position will work directly with 
the Director of the Education Abroad Center and the Office of University Outreach 
and International Programs and will be expected to provide leadership in the 
coordination of all aspects of the SSA programs. The SSA Program provides UC Davis 
students with an opportunity to study abroad under UC Davis faculty. The program 
has rapidly expanded in recent years, offering 25 courses on six continents in 
summer of 2004. See our web site for more information:

We seek candidates who will embrace our commitment to providing every student an 
opportunity to study abroad and to being a fully engaged university.  Candidates 
should be tenured Academic Senate or Academic Federation faculty, and have 
demonstrated skills in program development, academic administrative experience, 
and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students in diverse 
groups and settings.  

This is a half-time three-year position that provides a modest administrative stipend.  
Academic year faculty may receive additional summer compensation for service performed 
over the summer quarter.  In addition, funds will be made available to the appointee’s 
department to cover a portion of the appointee’s teaching duties.

Applicants should include a cover letter, current curriculum vitae and any additional 
supporting information the candidate chooses to provide.  Review of candidates will 
begin September 7, 2004.  The position will remain open until filled.  Nominations and
