UC DAVIS: University Relations - Ceremonies & Events June 16, 2004 To: Deans, Directors, Department Chairs, and Campus Administrative Officers Re: Alternate Parking Options for Friday, June 18, 2004 On Friday, June 18, 2004, the ARC Pavilion will be hosting the June Commencement Ceremonies for the Division of Biological Sciences at 10:00 a.m., the College of Engineering at 3:00 p.m., and the School of Veterinary Medicine at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first year in which all three ceremonies will be held on the same date. We anticipate crowds in excess of 8000 people for the Division of Biological Sciences Ceremony, 6000 people for the College of Engineering Ceremony, and 2000 people for the School of Veterinary Medicine Ceremony. Along with the Commencement Ceremonies, June 18th is a University workday and the official day of Dorm Move-out. Major traffic congestion on the west side of campus is anticipated beginning as early as 8:00 a.m. Parking Lots 25, 30, 35, 40, 41, 45, 47, and 47A will be especially impacted. Therefore, we are asking that you inform all Staff and Faculty about these traffic and parking concerns. Suggested options for avoiding the traffic congestion include: parking in alternative lots on the east side of campus (Lots 1, 2, 5, 10, 14, 15 or the South and North Entry Parking Structures), ride sharing, or traveling by alternative means of transportation. With everyone’s cooperation the traffic impact can be lessened, and the June Commencement Ceremonies can be the special occasion that they should be for the entire UC Davis community. Thank you for your consideration. Cherie Miller, Director Ceremonies & Events 04-063
