UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE PROVOST APRIL 15, 2004 MEMBERS OF THE FACULTY Re: Spring Call for UIIP and ETRA Proposals Vice Provosts Patricia Turner and John Bruno are pleased to announce a cooperative effort jointly funding grants and resources to faculty for instructional support and instructional technology support through the Undergraduate Instructional Improvement Program (UIIP) and the Educational Technology Resource Award (ETRA). A large portion of ETRA will now have bi-annual application dates tied to the UIIP application dates. This will enable faculty to combine requests for salaries, supplies and equipment traditionally associated with UIIP grants with requests for Mediaworks Resources/labor. The new educational technology component of these awards will be called "ET Resource Awards.” This cooperative effort will facilitate faculty being able to apply for both UIIP and ETRA at the same time. The application deadline for UIIP and ETRA is April 26, 2004. Future deadlines will be mid-November and mid-April every year. The applications for these joint awards will be combined into one 3-part application. Part 1 will be general information about yourself such as your name, department, the course to be improved, students numbers and a description of the project. This spring, this part of the application will be online for ETRA applicants, and can be accessed at http://mediaworks.ucdavis.edu/ETRA/index.cfm (kerberos login required). Parts 2 and 3 of the applications will be submitted as hard copies; instructions for Parts 2 and 3 can be downloaded. When Part 1 is completed, Part 2 specifically addresses non-technology support requirements, and Part 3 addresses the technology support requirements. UIIP applicants may apply using hard copies as described in the TRC website (http://trc.ucdavis.edu/trc/grants/faculty/UIIPcall.html).
