UC DAVIS: TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING SERVICES ****PLEASE POST AND CIRCULATE**** June 25, 2003 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS AND CAMPUS/UCDHS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS SUBJECT: Fleet Services 2003-04 Rates The majority of Fleet Services' vehicle rates will remain unchanged for 2003-04. The impact of the State budget on the Davis campus, however, has required Fleet Services to increase its rates in a few areas. Please read the information below for an update on rates. Fleet Services' rates can be reviewed at http://www.fleet.ucdavis.edu/rates/. ASSIGNED AND POOL VEHICLES: Monthly and daily rates for assigned and pool vehicles will remain at 2002-03 levels. Fleet Services continues to offer daily rental rates which are 2.2% lower on average than commercial rental agencies in Northern California. Monthly lease rates are even less. When comparing Fleet Services' rates to commercial rental agencies it is necessary to add sales tax, cost of fuel and campus parking permits (if needed) to commercial prices. INTERCAMPUS EXCHANGE BUS (BERKELEY BUS): Ticket prices for the Intercampus Exchange Bus will remain at $5.50 for a one-way ticket. The rate will be reviewed this summer which may result in a ticket price increase in Fall 2003. Please note that there have been changes to the bus schedule for 2003-04; see directive #03-065 at http://directives.ucdavis.edu/2003/03-065.cfm for more details. CHARTER BUS PROGRAM: The rates for Fleet Services' Charter Bus Program will increase an average of 14.3% effective July 1, 2003. This is the final year of a three-year rate adjustment plan approved by the campus Rate Group to make this program self-supporting. Even with the rate increase, Fleet's charter bus rates are substantially less than our nearest competitor who charges an average of 98% more per trip than Fleet Services. Scheduled trips that were quoted using the 2002-03 rates will be honored. FUEL CHARGES: Actual fuel costs will continue to be passed through to the customer for assigned (monthly lease) vehicles. A Per Mile rate will be charged for Pool (daily rental) vehicles to recover fuel costs. The Per Mile rate will be adjusted throughout the year as fuel costs fluctuate. AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE Automobile liability and physical damage insurance costs are pass-through rates to Fleet Services. The rates to the campus will be adjusted for 2003-04 when received from the Office of the President. If you have questions regarding Fleet Services' rates, please contact the Fleet Services Reservation/Dispatch Desk at 530-752-0787 or Business Manager Scott Sheaman at 530-752-9667 or mssheaman@ucdavis.edu. For assistance with reviewing options for reducing transportation expenses, please contact Assistant Manager Barbara Greene at 530-752-9666 or btgreene@ucdavis.edu. If you have suggestions that might improve the services offered by Fleet Services, please contact Manager Jack Harris at 530-752-7451 or jrharris@ucdavis.edu. Sincerely, Clifford A. Contreras Director Transportation and Parking Services 03-075
