UC DAVIS: TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING SERVICES
June 25, 2003
DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS
RE: Approved 2003/04 Parking Permit Increases
The 2003/04 Parking Permit increases (attached) have been approved by the
campus to go into effect on July 1, 2003. These rates reflect the second
of four planned increases necessary to meet Parking Services increased
operating costs and the debt service obligations of the West Entry Parking
Facility Development Project.
Parking Services encourages its patrons to consider joining the hundreds of
other UC Davis commuters who have already discovered the savings and
convenience of sharing the ride to campus. The cost of carpool and vanpool
parking permits is substantially less than other permits. All forms of
sharing the ride contribute to a better campus environment by helping to
improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, minimize the campus
resources necessary to accommodate vehicle parking demands and minimize
future permit fee increases.
If sharing the ride does not fit your schedule, please consider the remote
lot ("L") permit. The "L" permit is available to offer patrons a low cost
option to park in remote areas and reduce the parking demand and
circulation congestion in the core of campus. The annual savings of
choosing the "L" permit over the "C" and "A" permits are $204 and $312
respectively. The "L" permit represents a 46% reduction in cost over a "C"
permit and a 57% reduction in cost over an "A" permit. Faculty and staff
eligibility for this permit is dependent upon an individual's primary work
location. Commuting students are exempt from this restriction.
If you have not already received information regarding the renewal of your
parking permit, please contact Parking Services at 752-TAPS. For
information on rideshare programs please call 752-MILE and for information
on bicycle commute programs please call 752-BIKE.
Sincerely,
Clifford A. Contreras
