DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS

RE: UC Davis Washington Center Faculty Fellows, 2003-2004

DEADLINE: February 3, 2003

Proposals are now being accepted for a UC Davis Washington Center Faculty
Fellowship for 2003-2004. Application may be made for the full 2003-2004
academic year, or for one quarter (Fall 2003, Winter 2004, or Spring 2004).

Washington Center Faculty Fellowships are designed for faculty from all
disciplines (a) whose research would significantly benefit from a period of
residence in Washington, D.C., and (b) who are interested in teaching an
upper division course during each quarter of residence (in seminar format)
in the Washington Center's Undergraduate Program.

Washington Center Faculty Fellows receive departmental teaching credit and
regular salary, subject to agreement by their department chairs. The
department will be compensated by the Washington Center at a rate of $6,000
per course. For a one-quarter Fellowship, the department will be
compensated for one course; for a full academic year Fellowship, the
department will be compensated for up to four courses. Fellows will
receive a travel stipend to help defray expenses and are provided with an
office and computer at the Washington Center.

Applications are open to all UC Davis teaching faculty. Applicants must
submit: (1) a 2-3 page description of the research project, including a
demonstration of the need to be in residence in Washington, D.C.; (2) a
course proposal for the seminar course to be taught as part of the
undergraduate program; (3) the name, course number, and description of a
second course that the applicant could teach as an alternative, in the
event of overlapping course offerings at the Center; (4) a curriculum
vitae, with a complete list of publications and other pertinent
accomplishments; and (5) a letter of endorsement from the department or
program chair.

Further information is available from Professor Carole Blair, Director, UC
Davis Washington Center (202-974-6350; email,
cblair@ucdavis.edu). Applications should be sent to Professor Carole
Blair, Director, UC Davis Washington Center, 1608 Rhode Island Avenue, NW,
3rd Floor, Washington, DC 20036. Applications will be reviewed by the
Washington Center Advisory Committee. Awards will be announced by mid
March 2003.
