Re: Implementation of Supplemental Application Fee

In a letter dated June 7, 2002, President Atkinson approved a Supplemental
Application Fee of $20 "for individuals applying to graduate and
professional degree programs effective for Fall, 2003 admission." According
to President Atkinson's letter, this fee does not apply to applications for
undergraduate programs or to professional degree programs for which a
supplemental application fee already exists (M.B.A., J.D. and D.V.M.). This
is a Universitywide policy that affects all academic graduate programs on
the Davis campus. When combined with the Universitywide Application Fee,
this Supplemental Application Fee increases the total to $60.

Although the increased fee is reflected on Graduate Studies' publications
and web sites, many programs may not have had the opportunity to make
changes to their own web sites and recruitment materials. In order to
minimize the disruption caused by the new policy, Graduate Studies will
still accept any applications for admission received on or before September
30, 2002 with only the $40 application fee. Applications received after
that date must include the full $60 fee.

We appreciate your assistance in implementing this new policy.

Jeffery C. Gibeling
Dean, Graduate Studies
