UC DAVIS: Architects & Engineers July 3, 2002 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIR, AND CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Closure of Shields Avenue - Reconstruction Project We plan to reconstruct a major portion of Shields Avenue this summer. The project includes rebuilding the street, moving curbs to allow for future growth of our historic trees and improving street storm drainage. From July 22, 2002 through September 5, 2002, Shields Avenue will be closed from East Quad to 'A' Street (between AOB4 and Voorhies). No Lanes will be open. From August 15, 2002 to August 30, 2002, Shields Avenue will be closed from California Avenue to West Quad (between Haring, Robbins and Walker). No Lanes will be open. Re-routing of delivery and service vehicles is suggested. Pedestrian and bicycle access will be along the sidewalks with NO street crossing from July 22, 2002 to September 5, 2002. Construction fences along both sides of Shields Avenue will remain in place during on-going work. Questions or comments may be directed to the Project Manager, Tom Carver or Julie Sams (tgcarver@ucdavis.edu or jasams@ucdavis.edu) at Architects & Engineers (752-1956).
