UC DAVIS: VICE CHANCELLOR--ADMINISTRATION

July 2, 2002

Deans, Directors, Department Chairpersons, and Campus Administrative Officers

Re: New Contract for Public Access Photocopiers

UC Davis has just concluded negotiations and entered into a contract with
Taylor Made, Inc., to provide, install, and service new coin/debit card
photocopy machines in the General Library, the Law Library, Health Sciences
Library, Memorial Union, and several other public service areas. The
photocopiers are expected to be installed during the week of July 29,
2002 - August 2, 2002. Taylor Made, Inc. replaces the current contract
holder, IKON, Inc.

The administration of the contract is the responsibility of Repro Graphics,
while a team represented by the ASUCD Student Services Office, the General
Library, and Repro Graphics will meet monthly to discuss issues that emerge
during the length of the 5-year contract.

Because debit cards used with copiers now in place will not be compatible
with the equipment supplied by the new vendor, holders of those (IKON)
cards MUST turn them in to Copy Services, on the first floor of Shields
Library, prior to October 31, 2002. These cards will no longer work after
the week of July 29, 2002.

Taylor Made, Inc. issued debit cards will be available the first week of
operation on August 1, 2002. Several new additional features were
requested in the new contract. Some of these are:

* a turn-key network printer system in the General Library and the Law Library
* exchange of analog copiers with digital copiers
* installation of two-color copiers in Shields Library (75¢/copy)
* installation of two photocopy stations with scanning capabilities
* 45 new book copiers throughout the library system
* coin-operated copies maintained at 10¢
* convenient debit cards that range in price from 7¢ to 10¢
* continuation of debit card dispensers, bill-to-bill changers, and change
makers in convenient University locations.

The new contract will run through July 31, 2007. Questions can be directed
to Christy Pearce, Repro Graphics (757-3531), George Bynon, Shields Library
(2-2110), or Mark Champagne, ASUCD Business Office (2-1990).
