UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING October 17, 2001 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, and CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Planning the Future Campus - October 22-24 International 'Eco-Effective' Expert To Assist In Planning UC Davis's Future: Renowned architect and sustainable development expert William McDonough will offer ideas and strategies to confront conventional thinking on design, planning and development of campuses and communities in an October 22 public address sponsored by the University of California, Davis. McDonough's talk, to be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 22, at the Varsity Theatre (616 Second Street) in downtown Davis and to be followed by public workshops later that week, will assist the campus in shaping its future. Campus Planning Workshops: I would like to invite campus and community members to attend McDonough's lecture and then to put their ideas into action during either of two interactive campus planning workshops to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at Putah Creek Lodge on the UC Davis campus. An additional workshop specifically for UC Davis students is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the campus's Rec Pool Lodge. As part of its Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) process, UC Davis is examining alternatives for accommodating many new students, faculty, staff and facilities in the coming years. If you have any questions, you may contact Laurie Hanson at 752-9259. Sincerely, John A. Meyer Vice Chancellor - Resource Management and Planning 01-151
