UC DAVIS: General Library UC DAVIS: Bookstore October 9, 2001 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRPERSONS AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC FEDERATION RE: Faculty Authors to be Honored at Annual Event A program to celebrate the newly-published books of UC Davis faculty will take place on Tuesday, October 30, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Peter J. Shields Library. The event, co-sponsored by the UC Davis General Library and the UC Davis Bookstore, combines a reception, brief remarks by Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw, University Librarian Marilyn J. Sharrow, and a representative number of the authors. The event also includes a one-day display of over 130 newly published books by UC Davis faculty members. All authors who submitted books for display at the event will be honored, and those who will appear as speakers at this year's program include: Patricia Turner, African American and African Studies Bruce Larock, Civil & Environmental Engineering Albert Harrison, Psychology Scott Fishman, Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Linda Egan, Spanish and Classics Liz Applegate, Nutrition Arnold Bauer, History Martina Newell-McGloughlin, Life Sciences Informatics Program & Biotechnology Program Catherine Robson, English James Spriggs, Political Science Grady Webster, Plant Biology Emmy Werner, Human & Community Development Robert Blake, Spanish Francisco Alarcon, Spanish and Classics There is no charge for the event and all UC Davis faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. This is an annual opportunity to hear colleagues from various disciplines speak about their current research, writing and publication experiences. Refreshments will be provided.
