UC DAVIS: ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES September 13, 2001 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRPERSONS,AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS Re: Travel Changes Related to National Tragedy As a result of the airport closures, some University travelers may have been unable to return home in the aftermath of Tuesday's tragedy. Departments are advised that any additional transportation and subsistence expenses incurred by these travelers shall be reimbursed. In addition, many upcoming meetings and events have been cancelled because of the ongoing emergency. Expenses incurred by employees due to re-ticketing, schedule changes, etc. are reimbursable, as well. Departments should also make every effort to accommodate reasonable requests made by employees to travel by surface transportation in lieu of air travel. The University intends to minimize any travel reimbursement issues as the airlines work to recover from this attack on our country. If you have any questions, please call Mary Herman at (530) 757-8536. Sincerely, J. Michael Allred Associate Vice Chancellor--Accounting and Financial Services 01-127
