UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR December 1, 2000 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: APPOINTMENT OF DENNIS PENDLETON AS DEAN-UNIVERSITY EXTENSION We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis Pendleton as Dean-University Extension, effective January 1, 2001, following a national search. He brings a wealth of experience in Extension and in outreach more broadly that will serve him well as he assumes this key leadership role for the campus. Dr. Pendleton holds the B.A. in Economics, the M.S. in Ecology from Colorado State University, and the Ph.D. in Regional Resource Planning, also from Colorado State University. He joined University Extension in 1982 as a continuing education specialist. In 1992 he assumed the role of Associate Dean of University Extension as well as Director of the Public Service Research Program. A central theme of his work in both positions has been the fostering of effective working relationships between the campus and off-campus partners, and the creation of opportunities for scholarly outreach by faculty and academic staff. He has helped guide University Extension in its development as a self-supporting organization that currently meets the continuing and professional education needs of over 80,000 people annually. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Pendleton to his new position. Robert D. Grey Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor William B. Lacy Vice Provost-University Outreach and International Programs 00-153
