RE:     UC Davis Washington Center Faculty Fellows, 2000-2001

DEADLINE: January 15, 2000

     Proposals are now being accepted for two (2) positions as UC Davis
Washington Center Faculty Fellows for 2000-2001.  Application may be made
for the full 2000-2001 academic year, or for one quarter (Fall 2000 or Spring
2001).

     Positions as Washington Center Faculty Fellows are designed for faculty
from all disciplines (a) whose research would significantly benefit from a
period of residence in Washington, D.C., and (b) who are interested in
teaching an upper division course (in seminar format) in the Washington Center's
Undergraduate Program.

     In lieu of a stipend, a Washington Center Faculty Fellow may receive
departmental teaching credit and regular salary, subject to agreement by
his/her department chair. The department will be compensated by the
Washington Center at a rate of $6,000 per course. Fellows will receive a travel stipend
and are provided with an office, computer, and staff support at the
Washington Center.

     Applications are open to all UC Davis teaching faculty.  Applicants
mustsubmit: (1) a description of the research project, including a demonstration
of the need to be in residence in Washington, D.C.; (2) a course proposal for
the seminar course to be taught as part of the undergraduate program; (3) a
curriculum vitae, with a complete list of publications and other pertinent
accomplishments; and (4) a letter of endorsement from the department or
program chair.

the UC Davis Washington Center, 2301 M Street, NW, 5th Floor, Washington, D.C.
20037. Applications will be reviewed by the Washington Center Advisory
Committee.  Awards will be announced by mid-February 2000.
