RE: Faculty Authors To Be Honored at Annual Event

A program to celebrate the newly-published books of UC Davis faculty will
take place on THURSDAY, October 7, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Peter J. Shields
Library. The event, co-sponsored by the UC Davis General Library and the UC
Davis Bookstore, combines a reception, brief remarks by University Librarian
Marilyn J. Sharrow, Chancellor Larry N. Vanderhoef, Davis Division Academic
Senate Chair Jeffery C. Gibeling, and a representative number of the
authors.

The event also includes a one-day display of over 200 newly published books
by UC Davis faculty members.

The authors who will appear as speakers at this year's program include:

Lynn Roller, Classics
Philip Jessop, Chemistry
Alessa Johns, English
Amiya Mukherjee, Chemical Engineering & Materials Science
Wendy Ho, Asian American Studies/Women and Gender Studies
Elizabeth Constable, French & Italian
Mark Francis, Environmental Design
Lyn Lofland, Sociology
Martina McGloughlin, Biotechnology Program
Gerald Dworkin, Philosophy
Victoria Rivers, Environmental Design

There is no charge for the event, which all UC Davis faculty and staff are
encouraged to attend. This is an annual opportunity to hear colleagues from
various disciplines speak about their current research, writing and
publication experiences. Refreshments will be provided.

Questions about this program should be directed to Diane Forrest in Library
Administration, dlforrest@ucdavis.edu/752-1286, or Kathleen Spurr in the UC
