UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE PROVOST June 9, 1999 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: Appointment of Vice Provost-Undergraduate Studies I am pleased to announce that Professor Patricia Turner has accepted my invitation to serve as Vice Provost-Undergraduate Studies. Her appointment will be effective October 1, 1999. As Vice Provost-Undergraduate Studies, she will be responsible for campuswide leadership in sustaining and improving the quality of undergraduate academic programs at UC Davis. Professor Turner, currently Director of the Program in African American and African Studies, is an accomplished scholar of national prominence, a superb teacher, and an exceptionally effective campus citizen. UC Davis is fortunate to have someone with her commitment, experience, and skills in this key leadership position. Chancellor Vanderhoef and I would like to thank Professor Peter Dale who has served with distinction as the first Vice Provost-Undergraduate Studies for the last six years. We are grateful to him for agreeing to continue to serve in his current capacity until Professor Turner assumes the position. Please join me in welcoming Professor Turner to her new role.
