UC DAVIS: VICE CHANCELLOR-ADMINISTRATION

April 29, 1999

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS
AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS:

RE: Thank Goodness for Staff (TGFS) Events, May 1999

The campus will be celebrating Thank Goodness for Staff (TGFS), an event
sponsored by the UC Davis Staff Assembly, during the month of May. The focus
of the events will be the contributions of staff at UC Davis.

TGFS Picnic
The TGFS Picnic will be held at Putah Creek Lodge on Wednesday, May 12 from
11:30-1:00 p.m. There will be door prizes, music and plenty of food. UC
Davis administrators will show their support of staff by serving lunch at the
picnic. Once again, the Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor Shimek are
subsidizing a portion of the ticket cost. While there, be sure to submit your
estimate for the Guess-the-Weight contest of the combined weight of an antique
tractor and a few TGFS volunteers. For your amusement there will be a dunk
tank with guests Stan Nosek, Bob Franks and John Gregg on the hot seat. The
Staff Scholarship recipients will be announced at the picnic and the Citations
for Excellence recipients will be honored during the lunch. A new fundraiser
for UCD Staff Scholarships, Bovine Bingo, will be happening during the
picnic.

For a $10 donation to the Staff Scholarship fund, the Bovine Bingo winner will
receive a Disneyland Getaway package for two. Contact Kay Resler, 752-5084 or
keresler@ucdavis.edu or Maggie Overbaugh, 752-5992 or maoverbaugh@ucdavis.edu
for more information about TGFS picnic events.

LOGO Contest
Staff members will be voting for their choice of a TGFS Logo for TGFS 2000 at
the TGFS Picnic. All UC Davis employees can submit their design for
consideration. The deadline for entries is Thursday, May 6, 1999. For
details contact Aviva Luria at 752-6545 or adluria@ucdavis.edu

Art Show
Unfortunately the 1999 Art Show has been cancelled. A suitable location could
not be located this year. A reservation for next year's Art Show is in
progress so you won't be disappointed next year.

Meet the Administrators
TGFS is bringing back this event. Take an opportunity to tour the 4th and 5th
floors of Mrak Hall on Tuesday, May 4 from 11:30-1:00 p.m. Tours begin on the
2nd floor lobby; light refreshments will be served.

Information
More information on any of these events may be obtained by contacting Kay
Resler, Co-Chair TGFS, 752-5084 or keresler@ucdavis.edu or Maggie Overbaugh,
Co-Chair TGFS, 752-5992 or maoverbaugh@ucdavis.edu. Staff members have
donated a considerable amount of time to the various events of TGFS. Release
