UC DAVIS: VICE CHANCELLOR-ADMINISTRATION THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL EMPLOYEES April 28, 1999 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS AND CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS: RE: UC Davis Staff Assembly Spring Meeting Invitation I am pleased to join the Staff Assembly Executive Committee and invite ALL UC Davis staff to attend the UC Davis Staff Assembly Spring Meeting on Wednesday, May 5, 1999, 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the MU II at the Memorial Union. Following a brief business meeting, the featured presentation will be "The Golden Rule Isn't So Golden" presented by Larry Hoover and Carlos Gutierrez of Mediation Services. Even when we are guided by the "Golden Rule," we are often surprised when our well motivated actions are regarded with suspicion, or have unintended consequences. Sometimes our best efforts to do the right thing actually lead to more problems. This presentation will examine the limits of the Golden Rule and review the "Platinum Rule" as a new and improved guide to conflict management.
