RE:  UC Davis Staff Assembly Spring Meeting Invitation

I am pleased to join the Staff Assembly Executive Committee and invite ALL UC
Davis staff to attend the UC Davis Staff Assembly Spring Meeting on Wednesday,
May 5, 1999, 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the MU II at the Memorial Union.

Following a brief business meeting, the featured presentation will be "The
Golden Rule Isn't So Golden" presented by Larry Hoover and Carlos Gutierrez of
Mediation Services.

Even when we are guided by the "Golden Rule," we are often surprised when our
well motivated actions are regarded with suspicion, or have unintended
consequences. Sometimes our best efforts to do the right thing actually
lead to more problems. This presentation will examine the limits of the Golden
Rule and review the "Platinum Rule" as a new and improved guide to conflict
management.

Staff Assembly guarantees this Assembly IS worth staff time to attend and
enjoy. Plus, there are light refreshments!  Seating is limited to the first
150 people and the meeting will start on time.

Release time, with prior supervisory approval, is appropriate and encouraged
for staff attending this event.
