UC DAVIS: ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRPERSONS AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS Re: Entertainment Policy Revisions In addition to the University policy on entertainment expenditures announced in Directive 98-082 dated June 30, 1998, the following revisions are effective for expenses incurred after March 31, 1999: * The maximum rates for entertainment have been increased to $15 for breakfast and $25 for lunch. These rates have been increased to more closely approximate rates charged for conferences and catered meals. * A guest list containing the name and title, occupation, or group, must be attached to the completed check request to establish the business relationship to the University of the participants being entertained. * The tax considerations section has been revised to clarify that meals with business associates that are frequent and reciprocal are considered taxable income and are therefore not allowable under University policy. These changes will soon be reflected in the UCD policy (P&PM 330-80). In the meantime, please direct any questions regarding issues that need clarification to Mary Herman, Accounts Payable, at 757-8541 or email at mzherman@ucdavis.edu or to me at 757-8501. Anthony B. Flores Associate Vice Chancellor--Finance 99-052
