administrative team in the Provost's and Chancellor's offices. The term of
the appointment is one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second
year by mutual agreement. The appointee will be assigned duties from the
following broad areas:

Academic Development - Assist the Provost in his role as chief academic
officer; act as liaison, on behalf of the Provost, with academic deans, vice
chancellors, other campus officers, and with the Academic Senate, the Academic
Federation, and other campus academic units and personnel.

Special Assignments - As circumstances warrant, the Faculty Assistant will
be assigned special duties that are within the purview of the Provost and
Executive Vice Chancellor.
General Administration - Assist in the review and drafting of
correspondence and reports, campus policy and procedures, and the preparation
of reports to the Office of the President and other agencies.

needed to help determine his/her interest in further involvement in University
administration. Candidates must be tenured members of the UC Davis ladder
faculty and must have the following additional qualifications:

programs and a history of dedication to and interest in higher education and
the University of California. Previous academic administrative experience is

administrators, the Academic Senate, and the Academic Federation.

associated with this position. In addition, funds will be made available to
the appointee's department to cover a portion of the appointee's teaching
duties. For academic year faculty, additional compensation for summer service
is negotiable.
