UC DAVIS: VICE CHANCELLOR-ADMINISTRATION

December 2, 1998

DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRPERSONS AND
CAMPUS ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS

RE: CAMPUS EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN

The preservation of life, property, and the environment is the inherent
goal of emergency preparedness. The UC Davis Emergency Preparedness Policy
Group has prepared this Emergency Operations Plan to ensure the most effective
and economical allocation of resources for the maximum benefit and protection
of our campus community in time of emergency.

While no plan can completely prevent hardship and destruction, good plans
carried out by knowledgeable and well-trained personnel can and will minimize
losses. This plan establishes the campus preparedness and response
organization, assigns tasks, specifies policies, and general procedures, and
provides for coordination of planning efforts of various campus staff and
service elements using the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS).

The objective of this plan is to incorporate and coordinate all campus
personnel and resources into an efficient organization capable of
responding to any emergency.

This Plan has been reviewed by the Council of Deans and Vice Chancellors and
requires participation from each department Emergency Coordinator to integrate
their Department Emergency Plan into the campus Emergency Operations Plan
(EOP). Completion of Department Emergency Plans, as specified in UC Davis
Policy & Procedure Manual, Section 290-05 assures departmental integration
with the campus EOP. Departmental plans will allow you to maintain
self-sufficiency for the first 72hours after a major incident while minimizing impact to
injured people, campus research, valuable collections, and University property. If
you have any questions or wish to discuss departmental planning efforts, please
contact Evelyn Profita, campus Emergency Preparedness Planner, at 752-5386 or
email at evprofita@ucdavis.edu The full text of the campus EOP can be found
on the emergency preparedness web site:

	http://planit.ucdavis.edu

The Emergency Operations Plan will be reviewed, exercised periodically,
and revised as necessary to meet changing conditions.

The campus Administration gives its full support to this plan and urges
all officials, employees, and students, individually and collectively, to do
their share in the total emergency preparedness effort of UC Davis.
