UC DAVIS: HUMAN RESOURCES & RISK MANAGEMENT October 28, 1998 DEANS, DIRECTORS, DEPARTMENT CHAIRS AND CAMPUS/UCDMC ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RE: 1998 OPEN ENROLLMENT The annual University of California Open Enrollment period will begin on Monday, November 2, 1998, and will run through Midnight, Monday, November 23, 1998. During this Open Enrollment period, all available UC-sponsored medical, dental, optical, and DepCare plans will be open for new enrollments and transfers. Open Enrollment allows eligible employees the opportunity to enroll, de-enroll, or transfer between plans, to add eligible family members, or to alter or cancel salary reduction amounts in the Dependent Care Assistance Program (DepCare). All Open Enrollment transactions must be completed by Midnight P.S.T., November 23, 1998. No exceptions will be made. Once again, employees will make their Open Enrollment changes using Bencom, the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone system. Open Enrollment announcements and worksheets have been sent to all eligible employees and include the Open Enrollment Action Code required to access the Open Enrollment Transaction Line. Employees may also use their Personal Identification Number (PIN) to access the line. The Bencom IVR allows employees the convenience of performing Open Enrollment transactions 24 hours a day. The process is simple: employees complete the Worksheet, call the Open Enrollment Action Line at 1-800-639-3779, then make changes or enroll using a touch-tone telephone. NOTE: It is imperative that employees complete the Worksheet prior to the call and follow the instructions carefully. Certain codes for transactions are printed directly on the Worksheet. All changes or enrollments will take effect on January 1, 1999. Changes or enrollments for employees on unpaid leave on January 1, 1999, will take effect upon the employee's return to work. Benefit changes in the 1998 Open Enrollment are minimal. * The University contribution toward Health Plan premiums has been increased from $139 single party, $285 two-party, and $386 family coverage to $146, $299, and $405, respectively. * Health Net monthly employee premiums will decrease from $1.60 single party, $3.50 two-party, and $5.07 family coverage to $1.40, $ 2.87, and $3.92, respectively. * UC Care monthly employee premiums will increase from $16.82 single party, $33.83 two-party, $47.08 family coverage to $17.23, $35.33, $48.25 respectively. * PacifiCare, Western Health Advantage, and Kaiser will, once again, not require monthly employee premiums. There are no changes to the dental, vision, or DepCare plans. The Legal Expense Plan is not available for new enrollments during this Open Enrollment period. Premiums for the Legal Expense Plan will decrease in 1999 from $9.90 to $8.90 for single coverage and from $15.20 to $14.00 for family coverage.
