RE: Fall Fun Walk, Arboretum, Thursday, October 29, Noon-1:00 p.m.,
Registration South Side Mrak under "the Old Oak Tree"

The Health Awareness Program and the campus Health Awareness Committee will
host the 1998 Fall Fun Walk for faculty and staff on Thursday, October 29,
from noon until 1:00 p.m.  The annual fall walk provides an opportunity for
employees to learn more about our UC Davis Health Awareness Program and how to
improve or maintain a healthy lifestyle.  By "walking the walk" employees can
test out an excellent way to exercise during the lunch hour.

The theme of the fall walk is "Crazy Hat Walk."  All walkers are eligible to
register for a grand prize drawing for a bicycle donated by USE Credit Union
and B&L Bike Shop.  In addition, all employees who wear a hat are eligible to
win a prize donated by local merchants in the following categories: healthiest
hat, best departmental hats, craziest hat, mystery award, and best of show! 
Registration will be from noon until 12:10 on the south side of Mrak under
"the old oak tree."  The walk takes place from 12:15 until 12:45 at the arboretum. 
Awards will be given at 12:45 under "the old oak tree."

The importance of fostering healthy employees and assisting in promoting
on-campus resources to improve their health makes this annual event a high
priority for every employee.  Release time with supervisory approval is
appropriate.
