UC DAVIS: OFFICE OF THE PROVOST October 8, 1997 DEANS, DIRECTORS AND DEPARTMENT CHAIRS RE: Academic Merits and Promotions Dear Colleagues: For the past two years, we have delayed processing Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) for those faculty members who have earned merits or promotions until the final State Budget was passed. This is to inform you that we are changing this policy effective immediately: PAFs should be processed immediately for all future faculty merits and promotions that have been announced. Although we have encountered some difficulty in the past arising from contrary instructions from the Office of the President, the policy stated above best serves the campus. Thus to reiterate: On the Davis campus, unless intentionally instructed otherwise by the Office of the Provost, all faculty merits and promotions are to be paid to those faculty members earning them, starting with the July 1, 1998 effective date. Thus, merit/promotion monies should show up in the August 1st paycheck, assuming that PAFs have been processed in a timely way. If you have any questions concerning this, please feel free to phone Linda Bullard at 2-2090. Sincerely, Harvey Himelfarb Vice Provost--Academic Planning and Personnel 97-130
